Trendy Tuesday

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

So I’m sure everyone has been noticing that brides are starting to be more out-of-the-box when it comes to chairs at their weddings. Instead of the plain brown chiavari chairs, a lot of brides are becoming more detail oriented and incorporating their color scheme into their seats! Keeping in theme with Valentine’s Day, and because its one of my favorite colors on chiavari chairs, here are some red chairs that I think fit perfectly with the design.

And this doesn’ t only apply to weddings. This fabulous clam bake ( I never thought I would use those words in a sentence together) uses red chairs flawlessly.

I hope everyone has an AMAZING day filled with flowers and chocolates!

Trendy Tuesday

This weeks trend is the amazing chevron print that is being seen EVERYWHERE. In particular yellow chevron print among the most popular color. It is popping up in event design, wedding design and home design.

Here are some of my favorite ways to use this trendy print..

As table runners.. this would work for weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, any shower!!

Incorporate it into the cake design! This cake is so cute and unique, I absolutely love it!

Use it as floor inspiration! It ties together perfectly with the rest of the room making it truly as unique and bright space!

I’m thinking this trend will be around for awhile so have fun and be creative with it!!

A few of our favorite things

Right now I have an obsession with two things. Lights and Layers.

Let’s start with lights. LIGHTS LIGHTS LIGHTS! Is there anything more amazing? We are seeing ways to use lights that combine functionality and innovation…in turn, taking your event to the next level!  My latest love of lights is the use of vertical party lights as backdrops or even boarders at events.

These lights go perfectly go with the exposed brick wall but also would be amazing for an outdoor event. And the length?! They make a dramatic statement that will give any event that extra something special! Something else that I’ve been dying to do is a DIY layered background for a dessert table or candy bar. I love this one I found on Green Wedding Shoes!

All you need for this look is crepe paper flowers, paper banners, and paper wheels. Then layer, layer, layer!! Have fun and be creative with it!!

Looking back {Deauna & Zachary}

As we bring this first month of the year to a close, we would be remissed if we didn’t take the time to reflect on some of the wonderful events that we had the honor of being a part of ! It was during these times; through the laughter as well as the tears of joy that we knew what we were put on this earth for! We would like to share these special moments throughout a series of posts entitled Looking Back!

We will start with Deauna & Zachary! While Deauna worked and lived in Austin, we were planning her fabulous wedding to take place in Dallas, Texas which would eventually be home to her and future hubby Zachary. Their stunning wedding was set against the breathtaking backdrop of the 3-acre estate known as Mediterranean Villas.

We caught up with Deauna & Zachary, and here is what they had to say…

1.) What was your favorite part of the planning process?

Our meetings with Kandi. We always had such a good time, we laughed, brainstormed ideas, and just shared our vision. It was exciting to meet and watch our vision come to fruition.

2. What is your favorite thing about being married?

The feeling of completion.

3. What advice you would give to a bride-to-be about planning their wedding?

I would tell her that it is THEIR day, so do what THEY want, everyone doesn’t have to understand or like the choices that they make for their wedding. With every decision to ask herself- “When we look back at these pictures a year form now will we regret having done this the way Mom wanted rather than the way we wanted?” We have looked at our album and video several times and can say that we wouldn’t change a single thing.

4.) If you had to start the planning process all over again, would you do anything different? Why or why not?

Yes. I would have planned to be prepared to do things without the assistance of my bridal party.  Everyone wants to be apart of your wedding but often times don’t want to invest the time or money needed to bring your dreams to fruition. I would have put aside some extra cash and put aside a lot of emotion.

We wish Deauna & Zachary many years of wedded bliss, love and happiness!

Smooches!
